A Study on Catalyst Entrainment from the Ethylene Oxychlorination Fluidized Bed Reactor

During the production of ethylene dichloride, entrainment catalyst particles out bed is considered a problematic issue that affects conversion hydrogen dichloride and causes repeated unit shut down. In this study effect various operating conditions was measured; fluidizing gas flowrate, parameters, reaction conditions, static design parameters such as internal orifice diameter distributer. A simulation model built using Mat Lab Aspen Plus software. The results from both models were compared with sample analysis data obtained laboratory. It found when entering flow rate reached 2570.4 m3/hr, bubble maximum value, hence, at lowest quantity about 8.2 Kg/m2.s. addition, it pressure drop through distributer decrease solids increase until an 1 cm reached, achieved. highest HCL into Ethylene could be reached.
